  • Feb 10: Applicants notified of decisions via email

  • CSE exchanges are open only to CSE majors.
  • Students must be at least sophomore standing by credits by the start of winter quarter to apply.
  • No foreign language skill is required, though it may be useful.
  • Exchanges are designed to last a full year, but one semester is possible.
  • CSE majors pay regular UW tuition while abroad, along with expenses like airfare and insurance.
  • Interested CSE students apply through CSE in January. Students are selected based on their academic and personal preparation for an exchange.
  • CSE students must have completed at least one 300-level CSE course by the time they apply, and should plan on completing most/all 300-level CSE courses prior to their departure.
  • All/most of your exchange courses can fulfill CSE requirements, assuming you select courses carefully.

RSVP for Technical Interview Coaching! This Wednesday, Jan. 18th

Hello!
This coming Wednesday, technical interviewers from several of our industry affiliates will meet with groups of 2-4 students. The interviewers will describe their technical interview processes, give you a few sample questions and coach you on what they look for in answers. The sessions will include sample programming questions, logic questions and puzzles. Our experts will also provide examples of what they ask in actual technical interviews and how to successfully answer to land the job.
This event is especially geared towards students with little or no experience in technical interviews. The goal is to give you a good idea of what you will face in a technical interview and what kind of preparation is necessary to do well in one.
Please RSVP here by Tuesday the 17th at noon. We will offer two hour-long sessions- one at 3pm and one at 4pm.
Go Seahawks 🙂

Earn Winter quarter credit for tutoring!

Attention, Juniors & Seniors! Be a Tutor-Mentor: EDUC 401 F G

UW’s Academic Support Programs is offering a service-learning seminar titled “EDUC 401: Higher Education Tutoring and Mentorship” in Winter Quarter 2017. This weekly seminar introduces juniors and seniors to tutoring, mentoring, and teaching methodologies. Students apply what they learn in class through tutoring and mentoring new transfer, freshman, and sophomore students who are transitioning socially, culturally, and academically to the UW. This is a great opportunity for seasoned students to give back to the UW by sharing their knowledge and experience. We have a special need for students with knowledge of CSE.

  • Seminar meets on Mondays from 3:30-4:50 PM or from 6:00-7:20 PM
  • Tutoring takes place on campus
  • Receive 2 credits for working with one student, or 3 credits for working with two students
  • A letter of recommendation will be available upon request after completion of the seminar

For more information, visit our website at:

Career fair limited to ONLY CSE majors at UW Seattle and alumni from UW Seattle CSE

This message is going out to all CSE ugrad and grads.  It’s come to our attention that a few of you have been encouraging friends from other majors and other schools to attend our CSE career fairs.

Unfortunately, for many reasons, we need to keep this event for CSE majors only. That is why we go to the extra effort to provide everyone with a lanyard and nametag.  Mostly this is due to the safety concerns of already having a lot of people in a very small space. While we’re working to find a larger location, for this year we need to make the atrium work.  The career fair being held in a few weeks will be even more closely watched and anyone not wearing appropriate identification will not be admitted.

We ask for your cooperation to please not advertise the CSE career fairs to other students so we can save everyone the disappointment of being asked to leave and having to ask them to leave.  That process isn’t pleasant for anyone.  🙁

Thank you,
~CSE Advising, Facilities and Outreach Staff

Reminder: Resume Review Tomorrow, 3-5pm

Reminder: The Resume Review Workshop will be held tomorrow, Wednesday January 11th, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the CSE Atrium

This workshop is designed to allow you to gather tips from the experts to turn your resume drafts into documents that will help land your dream job or internship.

All you need to attend is a few printed copies of your resume–anything from a rough draft to almost-finished product is fine.  Show up anytime between 3:00 and 5:00 pm (plan on 20 minutes per review) to share your resume with 1 or more recruiters or technical interview experts from several of our affiliate companies, both large and small.  These experts will provide resume advice to get your resume in great shape for the upcoming recruiting fair on January 25th and 26th.
