American Indian Science and Engineering Society scholarships!

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a national, nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase substantially the representation of American Indians and Alaska Natives in science, engineering and other related technology disciplines. Google Lime Scholarship for Students with Disabilities – Deadline to Apply is June 1, 2009

Google is pleased to announce a new scholarship program in partnership with Lime: Google Lime Scholarship with Students with Disabilities.

Recipients of the Google Lime Scholarship will each receive a scholarship for the 2009–2010 academic year. Selected students will also be invited to attend the all-expenses-paid retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA, in 2010. Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated passion for computer science.

Who Should Apply?

Applicants must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:
•  a student entering their junior or senior year of undergraduate study or be enrolled in a graduate program in the 2009-2010 academic year at a university in the United States or Canada (in addition to US and Canada citizens, international students with disabilities studying at universities in the US or Canada are also encouraged to apply);
•  enrolled in Computer Science or Computer Engineering program, or a closely related technical field as a full-time student for the 2009-2010 academic year;
•  a person with a disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that impacts one or more activities that others may consider a daily function). This definition also includes the perception among others that a disability exists.

GO! Global scholarships help students with significant financial need access international learning opportunities. Global citizenship is an important component to a 21st Century education and one that should be available to all University of Washington students. We strive to make study abroad inclusive for all by increasing financial support, adding resources for students, and strengthening the diversity of the UW Global Affairs program.

Fullbright Info Sessions

Are you currently a junior, senior, recent graduate or graduate student looking for a fully-funded study-abroad experience during the 2010-11 academic year? Consider the Fulbright US Student Program (http://us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html). This program is designed to give students, artists, and other professionals opportunities to pursue research, graduate study or English teaching experience in over 155 nations worldwide.

The application cycle for the 2010-2011 Fulbright U.S. Student competition will open on May 1, 2009. The campus deadline for applications is September 23, 2009.

To be eligible, you must be:

1)      A U.S. citizen,

  • International students interested in the Fulbright Program must apply through the binational Fulbright Commissions/Foundations or U.S. Embassies. These offices process all Foreign Student Program applications. Additional information is available at: http://www.foreign.fulbrightonline.org/home.html.

2)      A graduating senior or hold a B.S./B.A. degree, master’s or doctoral degree candidate, or a young professional or artist,

3)      Thinking of studying, teaching or conducting research abroad, and

4)      In good health.

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Awards grants to U.S. citizens in all fields of study.
  • Awards approximately 1,500 grants for travel to over 155 countries worldwide.
  • Offers one academic year of study, research, or teaching assistantship experience. Projects may include university course work, independent library or field research, or professional training in the arts.
  • Preference is given to candidates who have not had extensive recent experience abroad (excluding undergraduate study abroad) in the country of application.
