I’m very excited to announce that Yejin Choi, currently Assistant Professor at SUNY Stony Brook, will be joining CSE this fall. Yejin is a rising star in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and will have a huge impact on our NLP research. She received her PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University and her BS in Computer Science and Engineering from Seoul National University.
Yejin is thrilled to be returning to Seattle, having spent three years at Microsoft before her graduate work!

I’m very excited to announce that Franzi Roesner, a superstar PhD student of Yoshi Kohno’s in computer security, has just accepted a faculty position in CSE. This was our top priority area this year and Franzi was clearly a top candidate nationally in security, with interviews and offers from many of the best departments. We’re thrilled that she’s decided to stay with us, which will strengthen our research and teaching in computer security in the future.
cheers,
hank
