From the Human-Centered Design & Engineering department (formerly TC): “The first several sections of TC 231 had MANY no-shows and very few folks asking to be added to the waitlist. The course has a policy of dropping students that don’t attend all of the first week’s classes. This means, students who want to take TC 231 should go to class; there is a high chance they will be added from the waitlist.”
This also means that if you were one of those no-shows, HCDE plans to drop you from the course. If you didn’t go to TC 231 today and want to keep the course, you should contact the HCDE adviser.

After hearing our disappointment in no Stat 391 this year, and discussing the impact this change could have on 390 enrollment in the spring, the Statistics department decided to bring back 391! They just let us know that it is now listed on the time schedule and will be offered M-Th from 2:30-3:20pm.

The following BioE course is open to undergrads, and may be interesting to CSE majors.
Bioengineering 555: Cellular and Molecular Biomechanics and Cell Function
This course elucidates the basic mechanisms underlying cell function with emphasis on motion. This unique course has been appreciated for its mildly heretical and provocative approach: students claim to have learned as much about the process of doing science as about the basis of cell function. The principles elucidated in the course are fundamental, and have far-reaching consequences for many areas of science and engineering. (more…)

Hi all,
By now, I think most of you have seen Raven’s message announcing that Stat 391 will not be offered. We’d like to get a sense of how many students this change impacts. If you had planned to take it this spring, would you please send me an email (mreardon at cs) to let me know? Also, please tell me if you’re a graduating senior who will now need to take Stat 390 in spring to meet the requirement.
Thanks!
Megan
