Hi CSE!

Spring Quarter is coming up, and it’s almost time for our quarterly Study Buddy event! If you have classes where you’d like a study buddy or two, RSVP for a night of study-buddy searching: Mingle with people from your classes and walk away knowing some familiar faces to look out for in your classes! 

SNACKS WILL BE PROVIDED, and we’ll have icebreakers and games so you’ll have the opportunity to meet a variety of new people! Whether you walk away with a large study group, one or two study buddies, or none at all, we hope to give you the opportunity to meet people so that you can see some familiar faces around the halls of the CSE buildings!

Reminder that ACM-W is hosting our second quarterly Diversity Discussion, open to ALL CSE STUDENTS!

Each quarter, ACM-W hosts these Diversity Discussions as a community event where CSE students can gather, learn more information about diversity topics in tech, and discuss their perspectives with other students. We encourage everyone to come and participate! We really value unique and different perspectives. Come ready to learn, discuss, and examine different views regarding diversity topics in CSE! 

The theme for this Diversity Discussion is Mental Health and Well-Being. Join us in discussing mental health issues related to minorities in computing as well as resources for self-care! We’ll also be playing a game about dealing with microaggressions. Cookies and fruit provided!

Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong, that you weren’t good enough, or that everyone is more competent than you? Do you know people who feel like this? Well, you are not alone.

Learn more about what Imposter Syndrome is and hear from our amazing panel of speakers, ranging from undergrads to faculty! Come and spark an important dialogue with your Allen School community and learn tips on how to combat Impostor Syndrome. We have an amazing and unique panel lined up for you. Each speaker will share how the Imposter Syndrome affected them, and how they overcame it. Dinner (pizza) will be served! RSVP BY TODAY ASAP TO HELP US GET ENOUGH FOOD!!

ACM-W is proud to announce we are holding a Resumé Review Workshop in collaboration with Bloomberg! 

Meet with Bloomberg software engineers and learn resume writing tips and advice. Remember to bring copies of your resumé, a notebook and something to write with!

Bloomberg is having Chipotle catered for this event!

A big change is coming to our ACM-W event system! Starting Winter Quarter 2020, the majority of our events will be restricted to members only. That means networking events like Din Tai Fung with Bloomberg as well as the Winter Affiliates Dinner will be open only to those who sign up to be an ACM-W member. So how do you become a member? Seen a lot of our event advertisements but still not sure exactly what ACM-W is? ACM-W is an Allen School student organization dedicated to cultivating a strong supportive community of women and sparking dialogue around the importance and necessity of diversity/inclusion in the computing world. We do this by providing resources (such as networking with companies and career prep workshops) and building spaces to foster community amongst CSE students. As a member, you not only get exclusive access to these events but also become a part of a more tight-knit community of individuals like you who are passionate about learning more about diversity in tech.
