Whitepages Tech Talk
HOW TO GET THE RIGHT JOB FOR THE RIGHT REASONS AND ENJOY IT AND BE PRODUCTIVE ONCE YOU GET THERE By Dr. Steve Hanks, Principal Data Scientist, Whitepages.com
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2014, 6:00 TO 7:00 PM ROOM EE125
Let’s face it, getting a job is easy for people in the right field, going to the right school. You, in other words. But this happy combination can lead to a kind of complacency and a job-search strategy like “wait for them to come to me and take the one that sounds sexiest.” I will try to convince you to take a somewhat deeper and more systematic approach, and give you some tips on how to do it.
Delphix Tech Talk
UW alumni Per Larsson (’13) and Brian Donohue (’14) will be speaking about the interesting and challenging technical problems they are working on at Delphix, from systems-level development to user experience design, and everything in between. They will also expand on what it means to work within an engineering culture of end to end ownership, holistic engineering and mentorship.
There will be plenty of food and swag to go around – we hope to see you there! Also, we’ll be on-campus on Wednesday 11/5 for interviews! So, be sure to bring your resume to the tech talk. We’re looking for software generalists (both interns and new college grads!) to join our amazing team of engineers working on everything from operating systems to file systems, to the Java management stack, and the GUI. We are looking for the next generation of innovators to join us!
