Seeking SIGCSE 2013 student volunteers

Thought this was worth passing along….

SIGCSE is still looking for student volunteers for this year’s conference.  This would be a good time to sign up if you’re interested and haven’t done so yet.

Back in late December, I sent the note below announcing the availability of student volunteer registration.  With the new, automated system, we hope to assign student work schedules by early to mid-February (earlier than many years).  Students who have not enrolled by that time will have many fewer options for working (if spaces are still left).  We have had a moderately steady stream of student volunteer registrations.  However, we can use more and encourage you to volunteer or encourage your students to do so.  The students love the experience and it will help make SIGCSE 2013 a great success.
Many thanks,
Steve Huss-Lederman and Steve Wolfman

We are pleased to announce that student volunteers can now register for SIGCSE 2013.  Please see https://www.cs.ubc.ca/~sig-cse/sigcse/.   Being a student volunteer will be the same as previous years but this year we are introducing a web-based system for registration that will allow students to view their information (including schedules once they are done in February).

In case you are new to recommending or being a student volunteer, here are some of the advantages:
– You get to meet and work with other students who are interested in CS
– You get a full refund of the conference fee so you can attend for free.
– You get to come to the student thank you dinner where we raffle off prizes.
– You get a free t-shirt.
– You get our undying love for helping make the conference a success.
Details on being a student volunteer are available at the above site.  If you have any question, please feel free to contact us at sigcse13-volunteers@cs.rit.edu.
All the best,
Steve Huss-Lederman and Steve Wolfman
