Google Tech Talk in 15 Minutes!

Google has a Tech Talk today, starting in 15 minutes!

Tech Talk: 3:30pm in CSE 403
How to redesign (and not break) mobile search

Special guests today are Corin Anderson and Ian Tullis (software engineers at Google working on the core search team).

Android Lollipop presented a challenge for Search: it’s a new operating system, a new search client, and a new interactive design (Material Design), and all of these interdependent parts had to be launched simultaneously. The Search changes included server code, Android app code, and web client code and affected user visible and core infrastructure components. In this talk, Ian and Corin will describe how the Search team evaluated this change in pieces; isolated bugs uncovered by live traffic experiments, and even deployed some stages invisibly and ahead of the Lollipop launch.
