The Resume Review Workshop will be held next Wednesday January 11th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the CSE Atrium
This workshop is designed to allow you to gather tips from the experts to turn your resume drafts into documents that will help land your dream job or internship.
All you need to attend is a few printed copies of your resume–anything from a rough draft to almost-finished product is fine. Show up anytime between 3:00 and 5:00 pm (plan on 20 minutes per review) to share your resume with 1 or more recruiters or technical interview experts from several of our affiliate companies, both large and small. These experts will provide resume advice to get your resume in great shape for the upcoming recruiting fair on January 25th and 26th.

Hi,
I am a PhD student from College of Education. I am looking for CS/CSE major undergraduates to assist in our research project. The project uses state, district, and federal databases to examine a number of critical educational policy issues, such as improving the lowest performing schools and addressing educational inequality. The position will provide students with opportunities to work with our project team to manage large-scale administrative data and textual data.
We are now hiring two positions. If candidates have expertise for both positions, it is possible to combine these two positions.
Position 1: Textual Data Management and Extraction
We have over 2,200 reports, which contain rich textual data on school management, reform implementation, and tasks. We are looking for an undergraduate research assistant who can help
- (a) use PDF converter to transform these reports into plain texts or excel
- (b) use Python or other coding program to convert these data into a longitudinal database that can be used for Natural Language Processing (NLP);
- (c) if the student is able to or interested to learn, then conduct Structural Topic Modeling or other analysis of the textual data.
Position 2: Data Management
We are inviting an undergrad student to join our team to help with data cleaning and management. The responsibilities of this student will include:
- (a) basic training on large-scale data management, such as coding variables, merging datasets etc.
- (b) competency in the use of statistical software, including STATA, R, etc
- (c) basic statistics.
To apply, send your application to Dr. Min Sun via email at:
misun@uw.edu.

The HCI lab is looking for 1-3 motivated undergraduates to help develop a crowdsourced accessibility web study. The study will look at listening rates of blind and sighted participants, and will be run over the LabintheWild platform. Skills you need (or are willing to learn): front-end web development in Javascript, HTML, and PHP, backend database management in MySQL. The site is already half-built. You will meet regularly with grad students and faculty, with help available. We can offer credit or monetary compensation. If you are interested, please e-mail dkbragg@cs.washington.edu.
