Munro Public Service Fellowship

The Sterling and Gene Munro Public Service Fellowship encourages a life-long commitment to public service by providing students with support (between $2000 and $4000) for a proposed public service initiative.  In addition, Munro Fellows participate in a community-based leadership seminar in winter and spring quarters.

The extended application deadline for 2009 Munro Fellowships is November 17, 2008.

2009 Anita Borg Memorial Scholarships

2009 Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship – Deadline to Apply is February 6, 2009

Dr. Anita Borg (1949-2003) devoted her life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling the barriers that keep women and minorities from entering the computing and technology fields.

In honor of Anita’s vision, Google is proud to announce the 2009 Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship, awarding a group of female students each a $10,000 scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year. All
finalists and scholarship recipients will also be invited to attend a 3-day Scholars’ Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA in June 2009.

Freshman Scholarship 101 – Getting Started in the Search for Scholarships

Specifically designed for freshmen or first-quarter sophomores, this introductory workshop provides students with information to begin the scholarship search and to develop a competitive edge for merit-based scholarships.

All sessions are held in 120 Mary Gates Hall.

Scholarship 201 Workshop, Continuing Students — The Search for Scholarships and Graduate Fellowships

This workshop provides assistance to continuing students looking to fund undergraduate academic years and graduate school. This will include information on discipline-specific scholarships, campus funding opportunities, scholarship search sites, and tips to develop competitive applications.

Merage Fellowship for the American Dream

We are extending the deadline for the Merage Fellowship for the American Dream to Friday, November 14, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Campus application materials and additional information can be found at the following URL.  Follow the link to ‘Procedures,’  https://www.washington.edu/students/ugrad/scholar/scholarships/s/merage Students applying for the Merage Fellowship Program must be promising immigrant students in their graduating year of college. They can be new U.S. citizens or hold a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card). Students who are not yet citizens must indicate their intention to become United States citizens. The Merage Institute Fellows Program is dedicated to promoting expanded opportunities for immigrants to achieve their American Dream.   University nominees must be seniors graduating by June 2009. CSE Scholarship Application Now Open!

The CSE departmental scholarship application is now open. You can find a link to the online application on our departmental scholarship page: http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/ugradscholars/departmental.html. The deadline to submit your application is **Friday, November 7th.** If you are in need of financial assistance, I strongly encourage you to apply. In recent years, we’ve awarded about 1/3 of the students who apply.
