CoE Scholarship Application — Deadline April 1

Hi all,

The College of Engineering scholarship application is available on the CoE site: http://www.engr.washington.edu/curr_students/scholarships.html#deptapp. The deadline to apply is April 1.

Our department was allocated two scholarships, and both CS and CE majors are eligible to apply. Please submit a hard copy of your application to the CSE reception desk no later than 5pm on April 1st.

VLADIMIR GROSS UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

It is with great excitement that the Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies would like to announce the launch of the Vladimir Gross Memorial Endowed Fund to honor the legacy of Vladimir Gross, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature, who taught Russian language at the UW for nearly four decades.

REECAS would like to request applications for the new, annual Gross Undergraduate Fellowship for exceptional undergraduate students interested in studying in Russia. Priority will be given to undergraduates to travel to Russia to study the Russian language, but funds may also support undergraduate students to travel to Russia to study the country’s history, literature or culture.

Mary Gates Research Scholarships – Apps due 1/23/09

The deadline for the Mary Gates Research Scholarship is Friday, January 23, 2009.  These scholarships give up to $6000 annually directly to UW students who are engaged in research.  Students currently participating in research are encouraged to apply.

UW Retirement Association Scholarships

The University of Washington Retirement Association announces the availability of up to four scholarships of at least $3,000 for UW students (undergraduate or graduate) studying toward careers that focus on aging-related research or provision of services to older adults.

Awards are based on demonstrated promise and financial need.   Applications are available on-line, at http://depts.washington.edu/retiremt/uwra. Click on ‘Scholarships and Fellowships’ under What We Offer on the left side of the home page. Scroll down to find the link to the downloadable PDF application form. Print the application form.   Applications, including additional information requested, must be complete to be considered.

Deadline for applications is February 2, 2009. Submit complete applications to Scholarship Services Office, Room 172 Schmitz Hall. Awards are credited to student accounts in Spring 2009.

Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Schoalrship Info

The Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship awards up to $50,000 per year for up to 6 years to college seniors or recent graduates with excellent academic records and financial need to attend graduate or professional programs beginning fall 2009. Each UW campus can nominate up to 2 students to compete in the national competition for this award. The campus application process and additional information about the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship are available at the Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships & Awards website.

To be eligible, students must have:

  • Senior standing or have graduated from UW within the past five years.
  • A cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.50 or better.
  • Demonstrated unmet financial need.
  • A bachelor’s degree by the start of the fall 2009.
  • Not previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship.
  • Plans to begin their first graduate degree program at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2009.
