HEY! UW CSE!
Yahoo! is sponsoring a 24-hour programming competition, preceded by a
week of tech talks on Yahoo! technologies! Tech talks each night will
be in the CSE Atrium with speakers like Rasmus Lerdorf, inventor of
PHP!
The overnight programming competition will start next Friday
afternoon, with teams of up to 4 members. You can code up whatever you
want, using whatever technology you want - may the coolest hack win!

After placing first in last years Pacific Rim Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (PRCCDC), the UW CSE team is looking to add a few members to its ranks for the 2009 competition. We’ll be competing against other regional schools, and have the opportunity this year to advance to the national competition.
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to have studied “computer security” to be valuable to the team. We’re looking for undergrads who have any number of skillsets. (more…)

Emer Dooley, with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is seeking a CSE student interested in participating the UW Environmental Challenge. The specific opportunity is to join a team working to fix a deficiency in some of the climate hydrology models by hooking it up with Google maps.
The first prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the team with the best working prototype addressing an environmental problem that’s water-related.Contact Emer with questions, or if you’re interested.
