We’re getting a LOT of questions about both capstones and overloading courses. As a reminder, here is the status:
1. Capstones are going to be late this year, we’re still waiting on the distribution for next year. There will be at least one in the fall, and at least one in winter and probably several in spring. Once we know what they are going to be, we’ll open a catalyst for Computer Engineering majors, they will get preference for a capstone. After the CE Students will the space, any remaining room will be opened during regular registration every quarter. For fall, we’ll open the capstone for registration after the CE’s have registered.
2. Overloading. Yes, some courses are starting to fill. As usual, you need to TRY to register for the course so it puts a mark in the registration tool that allows us to see how many students are trying to add the course. See the policies on overloading for further information.
We’ll certainly update you as we learn more.

Hey everyone,
The add code has been removed for 351 lecture and most of the sections. The 2nd lecture and rest of the sections for lecture A and B will open at a later time. Sorry for the delay.

A few notes and updates about fall 2014 registration:
1. Security will be offered, taught by a guest lecturer, it will most likely be offered T and Th from 11am to 1220pm with sections on Thursdays at 130 or 230. We are hoping this will be ready for registration tomorrow.
2. 403 is still pending but it isn’t looking good. At this point registration in 403 is going to be held until we know if we’ll find an instructor or not. If it DOES open, we’ll probably have a catalyst survey to sign up and give priority to graduating students. If you needed 403 to graduate fall quarter, you should register for an alternate course.
3. We will be having two lectures of CSE 351 this fall, we’re still working on getting a room for the 2nd lecture, more details to follow.
4. Capstone will be announced in late summer this year instead of early June. There will be at least one capstone in fall quarter. CE graduating students and 5th year masters students will have priority for capstones.
That’s all we know at this point, stay tuned to your email for updates as they come in.

Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and the Animation Research Labs invite you to an information session on the Animation Production undergraduate course sequence at UW Seattle. This sequence runs from Summer 2014 (A term) through Spring 2015. The Summer course, Story Design for Computer Animation, is highly recommended but optional.
The Animation Capstone culminates in a very professional and exciting collaboratively produced digital short film, similar in process to Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks productions. Examples of previous award winning films produced in the dept will be shown and questions regarding applications and admission, etc. will be addressed. We look forward to seeing you there. Light refreshments will be served.

All students must file a graduation application by the 3rd Friday (April 18th for spring) of the quarter they wish to graduate. You can file up to three quarters in advance (i.e. through Winter 2015 right now). You will receive graduating senior priority registration (you get to register first) for your last two quarters, but once you’ve used it, you’re done, even if you extend graduation.
If you plan to graduate this spring, you should check your
MyCSE page first to see if you have filed or not, there should be a “
graduation status” date in the upper right hand corner when you first log in.
If you don’t see a graduation status message, sent me an email (ceney@cs) for me to check to see if we just missed you in our database.
CSE Advisors hosting appointments for graduation will be: Crystal, Raven, and Jen. Email individually, or to everyone at ugrad-advisor@ for an appt, or just come to dropins.

In late breaking news today, sadly, CSE 351 will no longer be offered this summer.
CSE 333 and 421 are still on the schedule, and that shouldn’t change. CSE 456 should also be offered, likely on Saturdays, but that is still pending.
We apologize for the inconvenience, let the ugrad-advisors know if this causes issues for you and we’ll work on finding a solution.
