Dear students!
The Allen School is able to send 5-10 students to the ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing in Atlanta, GA — September 20-23, 2017.
Please fill in this application form by June 7, 2017 to be considered.
Funding from CSE will include airfare/transportation, hotel (shared), and conference registration.
The goal of the Tapia Conferences is to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and professionals in computing from all backgrounds and ethnicities to:
*Celebrate the diversity that exists in computing;
*Connect with others with common backgrounds, ethnicities, disabilities, and gender so as to create communities that extend beyond the conference;
*Obtain advice from and make contacts with computing leaders in academia and industry;
*Be inspired by great presentations and conversations with leaders with common backgrounds.
A student who attended last year had the following to say: “It is really beneficial to see all the different pathways we can take in Computer Science, particularly as a POC. It’s indescribable the impact it had to see people who look like me at such high levels of achievement. The career fair, workshops, and research opportunities presented deeply inspired me!”
