To all members of the UW CSE community,On Monday October 13, CSE grad students, postdocs, faculty, and Grace Hopper Conference attendees had a 2+ hour conversation stimulated by the events that took place at the previous week’s Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.
I’ve attached notes from that conversation. Please take a few minutes to read them.
There is much more discussion to be had in order to ensure that CSE’s environment is as welcoming and inclusive as possible. I’d like to suggest that this discussion is best carried out face-to-face rather than via email. We’ll have lots of opportunities.
fyi, the lunch referred to in the notes is a pre-scheduled graduate student women’s lunch. We’ll have additional opportunities in the future for ugrads to continue the discussion, stay tuned.
